This independent Liverpool store has been named among the UK's best small shops - here's why I agree

A gorgeous independent store in Liverpool has been named among the best in the UK.

The Times recently published a new guide to the ‘most stylish independent shops’, featuring 50 brilliant small shops - listed in no particular order - around the UK.

Among the 50 best independents is Liverpool’s A Slower Space, which offers all of my favourite things and has the perfect atmosphere.

Located on the city’s famous Penny Lane, A Slower Space is a small yet brilliant coffee shop and lifestyle store, offering fresh flowers, birthday cards, incense, candles and more lovely homewares and gifts.

First opened in 2019 by husband and wife duo Michelle and Mike, the venue is filled with quirky and trendy items (some of which I have in my own home), as well as beautifully-arranged bouquets of fresh flowers, plants and artworks.

A Slower Space has a dried floral studio in Liverpool city centre and often creates stunning arrangements for local events.

The Penny Lane shop is one of those places that can cheer you up on a cold, rainy day and it manages to be stylish yet unpretentious. It’s truly one of the loveliest independents around and deserves to be celebrated.

A Slower Space is open from 9.30am to 5.00pm Tuesday to Saturday, and 9.30am to 4.00pm on Sundays.
