First academic journal dedicated to The Beatles launched alongside Fab Four MA degree in Liverpool

The first academic journal dedicated to the study of the Fab Four has been launched in Liverpool.

The new Journal of Beatles Studies, published by Liverpool University Press, will publish ‘original, rigorously researched essays and notes, as well as book and media reviews’.

The publication will also examine the continued ‘economic and cultural value’ of the Fab Four.

A master’s degree in the Beatles, Music Industry and Heritage, believed to be the world’s first, started at the University of Liverpool this month.

The journal will be published twice a year and co-edited by MA programme leader Dr Holly Tessler and Paul Long from Monash University, Australia.

The pair said: “We are really excited to launch The Journal of Beatles Studies.

“We intend the journal to be a hub for research, discourse and debate about the Beatles, with an emphasis on new ideas and emerging perspectives.

The first issue of the journal is due to be published in September 2022.
