GPs in England have threatened industrial action, after they voted unanimously on Thursday to reject Health Secretary Sajid Javid’s plans over face-to-face appointments.

Javid has faced criticism over government guidelines which proposed ‘naming and shaming’ surgeries which have low numbers of face-to-face appointments.

The British Medical Association’s (BMA) GP committee, voted to reject the NHS Plan for GP and Patients, stating it ‘fundamentally failed to address the ongoing crisis in general practice’.

The latest GP Patient Survey, produced on behalf of NHS England includes information about the best and worst rated surgeries for appointments across the country.

The patient survey contacted 2.4 million people from January to April of this year to gather information on how patients feel about their local GP service, and around a third of them responded.

Surgeries are ranked by the proportion of patients who said their experience of booking an appointment was ‘very good’.

Halton

1. Oaks Place Surgery

There were 501 survey forms sent out to patients at Oaks Place Surgery. The response rate was 20.4%. When asked about their experience of making an appointment, 41% said it was very good and 35% said it was fairly good.

2. Appleton Village Surgery

There were 313 survey forms sent out to patients at Appleton Village Surgery. The response rate was 42.2%. When asked about their experience of making an appointment, 40.8% said it was very good and 41.4% said it was fairly good.

3. Hough Green Health Park

There were 457 survey forms sent out to patients at Hough Green Health Park. The response rate was 25.4%. When asked about their experience of making an appointment, 35% said it was very good and 43.7% said it was fairly good.

Knowsley

1.       Primrose Medical Practice

There were 495 survey forms sent out to patients at Primrose Medical Practice. The response rate was 21.4%. When asked about their experience of making an appointment, 59.9% said it was very good and 33.4% said it was fairly good.

2.       Colby Medical Centre

There were 495 survey forms sent out to patients at Colby Medical Centre. The response rate was 28.1%. When asked about their experience of making an appointment 56.2% said it was very good and 49.1% said it was fairly good.

3.       The Macmillan Surgery

There were 514 survey forms sent out to patients at The Macmillan Surgery. The response rate was 25.5%. When asked about their experience of making an appointment, 53.2% said it was very good and 37.5% said it was fairly good.

Liverpool

1.       Greenbank Road Surgery

There were 421 survey forms sent out to patients at Greenbank Road Surgery. The response rate was 28.5%. When asked about their experience of making an appointment, 71.6% said it was very good and 17.9% said it was fairly good.

2.       Moss Way Surgery

There were 440 survey forms sent out to patients at Moss Way Surgery. The response rate was 30.7%. When asked about their experience of making an appointment, 69.9% said it was very good and 23.9% said it was fairly good.

3.       Poulter Road Medical Centre

There were 385 survey forms sent out to patients at Poulter Road Medical Centre. The response rate was 28.8%. When asked about their experience of making an appointment, 62.7% said it was very good and 25.8% said it was fairly good.

Wirral

1.       Grove Road Surgery

There were 290 survey forms sent out to patients at Grove Road Surgery. The response rate was 44.5%. When asked about their experience of making an appointment, 72.5% said it was very good and 23.9% said it was fairly good.

2.       Holmlands Medical Centre

There were 410 survey forms sent out to patients at Holmlands Medical Centre. The response rate was 32.7%. When asked about their experience of making an appointment, 69.5% said it was very good and 26.1% said it was fairly good.

3.       Vittoria Medical Centre

There were 481 survey forms sent out to patients at Vittoria Medical Centre. The response rate was 27.7%. When asked about their experience of making an appointment, 66.6% said it was very good and 23.8% said it was fairly good.

South Sefton

1. 15 Sefton Road

There were 315 survey forms sent out to patients at 15 Sefton Road. The response rate was 49.8%. When asked about their experience of making an appointment, 65.3% said it was very good and 25.2% said it was fairly good.

2. Liverpool Road Medical Practice

There were 399 survey forms sent out to patients at Liverpool Road Medical Practice. The response rate was 37.6%. When asked about their experience of making an appointment, 44.4% said it was very good and 37% said it was fairly good.

3. 42 Kingsway

There were 280 survey forms sent out to patients at 42 Kingsway. The response rate was 45.7%. When asked about their experience of making an appointment, 43% said it was very good and 41.1% said it was fairly good.

Southport and Formby

1.       Christiana Hartley Medical Practice

There were 335 survey forms sent out to patients at Christiana Hartley Medical Practice. The response rate was 43.3%. When asked about their experience of making an appointment, 56.8% said it was very good and 29.8% said it was fairly good.

2.       Roe Lane Surgery

There were 276 survey forms sent out to patients at Roe Lane Surgery. The response rate was 47.8%. When asked about their experience of making an appointment, 55.5% said it was very good and 34.4% said it was fairly good.

3.       Ainsdale Village Surgery

There were 316 survey forms sent out to patients at Ainsdale Village Surgery. The response rate was 44.9%. When asked about their experience of making an appointment, 53.2% said it was very good and 31.1% said it was fairly good.

St Helens

1.       Kenneth Macrae Medical Centre

There were 257 survey forms sent out to patients at Kenneth Macrae Medical Centre. The response rate was 55.6%. When asked about their experience of making an appointment, 64.6% said it was very good and 25.1% said it was fairly good.

2.       Lingholme Health Centre

There were 373 survey forms sent out to patients at Lingholme Health Centre. The response rate was 37%. When asked about their experience of making an appointment, 61.7% said it was very good and 25.5% said it was fairly good.

3.       Rainhill Village Surgery

There were 281 survey forms sent out to patients at Rainhill Village Surgery. The response rate was 48.4%. When asked about their experience of making an appointment, 51.8% said it was very good and 33.9% said it was fairly good.
