Donation from housebuilder boosts PDSA’s lifesaving veterinary work in Liverpool
A donation from David Wilson Homes to PDSA has helped cover the cost of consultations at its pet hospital in Kirkdale, Liverpool.
The leading vet charity provides veterinary care to pets whose owners can’t afford the full cost of their veterinary treatment. It relies entirely on donations and receives no government funding.

Rebecca Pook, commercial partner officer at PDSA, said: “Without supporters, we wouldn’t be able to do what we do. PDSA's belief is that financial hardship should never stop people getting the veterinary care they need for their much-loved pets. In the last year, the charity has supported more than 339,000 people and treated over 422,000 animals across its network of over 40 Pet Hospitals and clinics in the UK.”
The Kirkdale branch of the charity is seeing increased demand for its services. There was a 4.15% increase in pets seen at branch between 2023 to 2025. Last year the hospital treated over 12,300 animals – that’s an average of 140 a day. It cost the charity £2.1m to run the Kirkdale site in 2025.
“From rising operational costs to controlling demand, there are many challenges facing our teams so donations like this one from David Wilson Homes are gratefully received,” added Rebecca.
Jennifer Burns, sales director at David Wilson Homes NW, said: “We’re proud to support PDSA and the vital work they do for pets and the people who love them. Every day, their teams provide life‑saving treatment to animals whose owners are facing real hardship, and we know this donation will help them continue that essential care. As a housebuilder rooted in local communities, we believe in supporting organisations that make a genuine difference to families’ lives and PDSA does exactly that.”
The charity received a £1,500 donation from David Wilson Homes, via the Barratt Redrow Foundation, the company’s charitable arm. The Foundation has donated over £17m to good causes.
