Longstaff is into the final year of his St James' Park contract and Newcastle could look to cash in on him rather than losing him for free next summer.

The former Blackpool loanee has been tipped to reunite with Benitez at Goodison Park, while Southampton are also interested. (Mail Online).

Thierry Small is in talks with Southampton after turning down a new deal at Everton.

The left-back became the youngest player in the club’s history 16 years and 176 days when coming off the bench in a 3-0 FA Cup win over Sheffield Wednesday in January.

After snubbing fresh terms at Goodison, Small has been told by the Premier League he is now free to discuss contracts with other suitors.

Ben Woodburn's prospective loan move from Liverpool to Hearts has been hailed as a “massive coup" by former Celtic striker John Hartson.

The 21-year-old is on the verge of joining the Scottish Premiership side until January, with Hearts having the option to extend the deal for the rest of the season.

Woodburn has had difficult spells away from Anfield at Sheffield United, Oxford and Blackpool in the past three campaigns.

But Hartson has watched the youngster at close quarters for Wales and is convinced he can thrive at Tynecastle.

He said: “I’m not sure how he’s progressed over the last year or two but he’s still very, very young and if Hearts were to get him I think they’ll be getting a very exciting prospect.

"It’d be a massive coup if Hearts could get him. Massive." (Daily Record).
