Football finance expert Kieran Maguire has revealed Everton could be in line for a big signing in January.
With their proposed takeover from the Friedkin Group currently in process, the timelines match up for the American owners to be in charge when the window opens. Still awaiting Premier League approval, the takeover has been tipped to be completed before the end of November.

Hide AdFans will hope that means they can be active in the January window as they look to add players in positions that they couldn’t in the summer. Many targets went elsewhere but they still managed to bring talent to the club in the form of Iliman Ndiaye, Armando Broja and Tim Iroegbunam.
Speaking to TBR Football, Maguire revealed that the incoming owners will improve the financial situation greatly at Goodison Park, after money was regularly borrowed under Farhad Moshiri - giving them a far better position overall. Maguire said: “I think they would like to make a statement signing. What they don’t want to do is put themselves in a compromising position whereby they have to sell a player before 30th June. But assuming the deal goes ahead, I’m sure the Friedkin group have already had conversations.
“There are always two issues when recruiting a player. A) do we have the physical cash to get a deal over the line? And B) do we have the latitude within the cost control rules?

“The former is not a problem. They are not in a position where they need to borrow money anymore, as has been the case in recent years under Moshiri. That’s a real positive. They did make some sales this summer which has given them a bit of flexibility. They are in a far better position than they were under Moshiri.”

Hide AdOne could argue that another attacker on the right wing would be required to add another goal threat while the right-back position remains a concern with veterans Ashley Young and Seamus Coleman still featuring regularly, while Nathan Patterson has failed to inspire Sean Dyche thus far.
