Allan Saint-Maximin joins the Lucas Digne to Newcastle debate with left-back wanting to leave Everton

Lucas Digne is set to leave Everton during the January transfer window and Newcastle are one club keen.

Allan Saint-Maximin has joined the debate around whether Everton left-back Lucas Digne will be joining Newcastle United during the January transfer window.

Digne isn’t short of suitors during the January transfer window, although Benitez stressed Everton have only received enquiries and no concrete offers have been made.

Among those chasing Digne’s signature are Newcastle in their bid for Premier League survival.

Following their Saudia Arabian takeover, Eddie Howe is hoping to prise the former Barcelona defender to St James’ Park.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano delivered an update on Digne’s future and revealed that he’s not keen on a move to Newcastle.

But Magpies forward Saint-Maximin responded with a seemingly sarcastic quipp about his fellow countryman.

He said: “Ok Fabrizio just to clarify, is Lucas Digne going to join Newcastle ?”

Which club will Digne join?

A host of clubs have been linked with moves for Digne.

However, Thomas Tuchel’s side have the option to recall Emerson from his loan spell at Lyon.

Aston Villa have also been linked as a club who are keen.
