Everton transfer news: David Moyes considering Goodison raid, Burnley want out-of-favour defender

It’s already been a fairly busy January transfer window for Everton.

Despite the window not even being open a week, two new faces have arrived at Goodison Park.

Vitaliy Mykolenko and Nathan Patterson joined from Dynamo Kiev and Rangers respectively to bolster Rafa Benitez’s full-back options.

More incomings and outgoings are expected before the deadline on January 31.

Wages putting Moyes off Digne

David Moyes is considering a raid on his previous long-time employers to bring Lucas Digne to West Ham.

The left-back isn't short of suitors as he bids to depart Everton this month, with Chelsea and Newcastle United among the clubs keen.

The Hammers have weighed up a move for Digne as they seek an additional left-back, with Aaron Cresswell sidelined since November with a back injury.

However, the Evening Standardreports that the France international's wages are well in excess of £100,000 per week and that’s why it might not be possible.

Bringing in the France international would upset the wage structure at the London Stadium, having already pushed the boat out to land ex-Everton loanee Kurt Zouma from Chelsea last summer.

Meanwhile, it's said that Cresswell isn't too far from making a return.

Longstaff keen for Rafa reunion

Sean Longstaff is keen to reunite with Rafa Benitez at Everton this month, per 90min.

Benitez was responsible for giving Longstaff his big break when in charge of Newcastle.

However, the midfielder has struggled for regular game time at the Magpies this season - especially since Eddie Howe took over as manager.

Longstaff has played just three times under Howe.

The 24-year-old's Newcastle contract expires in the summer.

And with Everton interested this month, Longstaff would be open to a move to Goodison.

TheShields Gazette have reported that the Blues have already had a bid turned down for Longstaff.

Clarets enter Holgate race

Everton are willing to allow Mason Holgate to depart this month to raise funds.

The former England under-21 international has been linked with a move to Newcastle United.

Now Football Insider claims that relegation rivals Burnley are also keen on a move.

The Clarets, who sit 18th in the table, will see both James Tarkowski and Ben Mee's respective contracts expire in the summer. There is a club option on the latter, however.

Holgate has made 10 appearances for Everton this season.

He’s started the past two games but has been down the pecking order when all options have been available.

Summer move for Barca star mooted

Everton are wprepared offer Ronald Araujo “much better terms” to lure the defender from Barcelona in the summer.

The centre-back is into the last 18 months of his contract at the Nou Camp.

The Athletic reports that Araujo - much like fellow promising prospects Gavi, 17, and Nico, 20 - is due a significant pay rise as reward for his progress.

Given Barcelona’s well-documented financial troubles, it could be a struggle for them to fit such a deal within their salary cap ‘puzzle’.

Araujo’s potential availability will undoubtedly alert plenty of clubs across Europe - with Everton one of them.
