Jean-Philippe Gbamin’s agent has confirmed that the midfielder is in talks to leave Everton.

The Ivory Coast international has endured a miserable time on Merseyside since arriving for £25 million from Mainz in the summer of 2019.

He’s played just eight times in total for the Toffees due to number of injury problems.

Despite being fit, Gbamin was again left out of Frank Lampard’s squad for Saturday’s 2-0 loss at Southampton.

And his agent, Bernard Collignon, admits that he is in negotiations.

Speaking to RB Sport over the weekend, he said: “Negotiations are still ongoing. Will the contract be signed today? I don’t know.”

Gbamin finds himself surplus to requirements at Everton.

Despite Abdoulaye Doucoure and Fabian Delph out injured, he’s unable to thrust his way into Lampard’s plans.

The recently-appointed Toffees boss signed Donny van de Beek and Dele Alli - from Manchester United and Tottenham respectively - to bolster his midfield options.

A loan move and a chance to finally play regular football would be a chance to rejuvenate Gbamin’s career.

He’s contracted at Everton until the summer of 2024.
