The Reds were linked with a €40 million move for Tielemans last month by Spanish media outlet El Nacional.

The Belgium international is out of contract in the summer of 2023 and will not be short of suitors should he wish to depart the Foxes.

Manchester United and Arsenal also reportedly covet his signature.

Tielemans netted from the penalty spot in Leicester's 2-2 draw with West Ham on Sunday - in what was his seventh goal of the season.

“He hasn't declined. For me his position is exactly the same as what it was,” said the Leicester boss after the West Ham game.

“He's a fantastic player and there's been no movement whatsoever, he's a player who has continued to work and is working well.

“Till the last day he's here whether that’s at the end of the contract or summer or beyond that, he will always give his best because he's a top professional and he showed his commitment today.

“There’s interest trying to be generated by other people.”

Central midfield is an area that Liverpool are currently well-stocked.

But there is some uncertainty surrounding the future of some players in the engine room.

James Milner is out of contract this summer. Having turned 36 last month, Klopp recently revealed that Milner does not want to retire at the end of the campaign and the Reds have been in discussions.

Much could depend on whether there are any departures.

What’s more, Liverpool remain interested in Fulham’s Fabio Carvalho after a deadline-day deal broke down at the 11th hour.
