Curtis Jones injury update after Liverpool midfielder subbed at half-time

Curtis Jones was replaced by Harvey Elliott at half-time of Liverpool’s 2-1 defeat of Norwich City in the FA Cup.

Jurgen Klopp has explained why he took off Curtis Jones at half-time in Liverpool’s 2-1 FA Cup victory over Norwich City.

The homegrown midfielder was excellent during the opening 45 minutes of the fifth-round tie at Anfield.

He helped the Reds take a two-goal advantage into the interval, with Takumi Minamino bagging both goals.

But Jones was surprisingly withdrawn before the second period commenced, with Harvey Elliott coming on in his place.

Klopp revealed that Jones suffered a slight thigh problem and was not risked further.

The Liverpool boss said: “Curtis played a really good first half. We had to take him off because he felt the thigh slightly.

“We don’t think it’s a realy injury but there was no need to take a risk and that’s why we brought Harvey on.”
