David Thompson names Liverpool teenager who is 'so silky' and has a 'massive future'
Liverpool earned a 3-2 victory over Brighton with Trey Nyoni coming off the bench.
Former midfielder David Thompson saluted the performances of Vitezslav Jaros and Trey Nyoni after Liverpool’s victory over Brighton.
The Reds moved into the Carabao Cup quarter-finals with a 3-2 win at the AMEX Stadium. Cody Gakpo notched a double and Luis Diaz was on target in an enthralling encounter on the south coast.
Liverpool head coach Arne Slot made eight changes to his team, which included a full debut for goalkeeper Jaros. The 23-year-old made two excellent saves in the game to ensure the Reds set up a last-eight tie against Southampton. Slot also brought 17-year-old Trey Nyoni off the bench for his second senior appearance of his career.
And Thompson, speaking on LFCTV believes that both performed well. The ex-Reds favourite said: “[Jaros made] Two wonderful saves. He made himself huge, he's been training with Alisson - the world's best goalkeeper. He's picked up a few points of making himself huge and scary in front of goal and that's what he did.
“I thought he had a commanding presence. There was a slight mistake for Brighton's goal but it was a scuffed shot. If Ferguson had have hit a true shot, he would have anticipated it a bit better. A huge positive, he's gone in and done really well. A great mention for young Trey He's gone into midfield and was so silky, so smooth, so relaxed and he's got a massive future for us, I think.”
