And with the window the window is set to close at 11pm, the Reds could well have an additional two hours in which to finalise the details of the Fulham attacking midfielder’s transfer.

Liverpool have come to an arrangement with the Championship leaders after discussions this evening.

It’s despite the 19-year-old out of contract at the end of the season and available on a free transfer. The Reds have moved to secure their man ahead of next season and he’s likely to be to Craven Cottage for the remainder of the campaign.

Carvalho, 19, has been magnificent for Fulham this season. He’s scored seven goals and recorded a further four assists as they head towards a Premier League return.

With the clock ticking and plenty of paperwork still to be completed, fans might be worrying that a deal looks unlikely.

However, as per EFL and Premier League rules, Jurgen Klopp’s side can be given until 1am to complete the deal - providing that the club have submitted a ‘Deal Sheet’.

These sheets provide details of the impending transfer and confirm that an agreement has been reached, before providing clubs with extra time in which to submit all the required documentation.

The details required on this sheet are fairly basic and amount to the clubs and player involved and the fee being paid, if there is one.

Deal sheets cannot be requested until 9pm on transfer deadline day and then must be submitted, fully completed, by 11pm.

Once received and approved by the Premier League or EFL, clubs can then be granted permission to submit all the required transfer paperwork by a 1am deadline.

With time running out in the window, Liverpool may have to submit such a sheet to finalise the addition of Carvalho.

The Reds will also be able to sign free agents after the window closes.

Liverpool signed Luis Diaz from Porto for a fee of up to £50 million including add-ons on Sunday.
