Liverpool slumped to just their second defeat of the season as a single goal was enough for Leicester City to end their recent run of poor form and beat the title hopefuls.

The Reds failed to register a goal for the first time since they were beaten 1-0 at home to Fulham last season, ending a run of 34 consecutive games where Liverpool have scored.

Ademola Lookman’s wonderful 59th minute strike was enough to beat Liverpool, who lost ground in the title race and are now six points behind leaders Manchester City.

Jurgen Klopp has recently bemoaned the hectic festive schedule in the Premier League, and his side’s game vs Leeds was called off on Boxing Day, but his side ended up losing to a team who played on Boxing Day.

The defeat becomes worse as Liverpool will be severely hit by the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations tournament, as they lose Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Naby Keita, depleting an already thin squad.
