Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler linked with vacant League Two manager’s job

Robbie Fowler is among the early candidates in the reckoning for the Bradford City role after Derek Adams was sacked.

Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler is in the reckoning for the vacant Bradford City manager's job.

That’s according to the bookmakers anyway, with the man renowned as God among Kopites in the early betting market.

Bradford made the decision to sack Derek Adams this morning.

The Scot was tasked with leading the Bantams to League Two promotion at the start of the season, having remarkably achieved that feat with Morecambe last campaign.

But after a 1-0 loss to Exeter City at the weekend, which left the Valley Parade side 11th and nine points outside the play-offs, they wielded the axe on Adams.

Fowler, who scored 183 goals for Liverpool over two spells and is the club's sixth all-time top scorer, is out of work after leaving Indian outfit East Bengal in September.

He’s yet to manage in England, having previously been in charge of Australian side Brisbane Roar and Thai club Muangthong United.

Fowler, who had a spell working with Liverpool’s academy while Brendan Rodgers was in charge, has now been installed as a 10/1 shot with BetVictor to land the Bradford role.

Grant McCann, who was relieved of his duties by Hull last month, is the early 3/1 favourite.
