Liverpool star Roberto Firmino offered to Barcelona for €20 million - report

Liverpool could be set to split up their much vaunted front three as Roberto Firmino has reportedly been offered to Barcelona for €20 million.

According to Spanish newspaper El Nacional, the Catalan club just need to meet the asking price to secure a summer deal.

Firmino has faced a series of injury problems throughout this season and Portuguese winger Diego Jota has taken his place in the starting XI.

El Nacional say that due to the fact Jota has proven himself more than capable of filling in, Liverpool are open to negotiate a move for the Brazilian striker.

Firmino’s Liverpool history

Since his arrival at Anfield in the summer of 2015, Firmino has been one of the key players in the Liverpool squad.

In his 310 matches for the Reds, Firmino has scored 94 goals and provided 74 assists.

In addition to his outstanding numbers, the Brazilian was one of the key performers during the 2019-2020 Champions League title campaign.

He scored the winning goal against Flamengo at the FIFA Club World Cup final in 201 and he also lifted the Premier League trophy in 2020, of course.

However, 2021-22 has been a poor season so far. Firmino has completed the full 90 minutes just twice, although he has scored seven goals in his 18 appearances across all competitions.

How likely is a deal?

Roberto Firmino may have had a few issues this season but he remains a key figure in the Liverpool side.

Klopp has always gone out of his way to highlight how much work the Brazilian does for the team as well as the obvious moments of brilliance he displays on the ball.

He is a firm fans favourite too and it would be a big wrenchh to see him leave.

However, at 30-years-old and with his contract expiring in the summer of 2023, €20 million would represent a good fee for the Reds.
