Mohamed Salah’s future at Liverpool remains one of the most discussed topics of the Premier League season.

With Jurgen Klopp’s departure now confirmed and Arne Slot due to take over next month, there’s a lot of speculation surrounding Liverpool’s incomings and outgoings in the summer transfer window.

Thiago and Joël Matip have already bid farewell to Anfield as they prepare to leave the club as free agents next month, but others have also been linked with a potential exit as the summer break stretches out. The main name is Mohamed Salah, who is once again in the spotlight and connected to a blockbuster Saudi Arabia move.

Al-Ittihad swooped in with an eye-watering £150 million bid for the 31-year-old last year, which was swiftly rejected by Liverpool. No new offers have been tabled since the summer window closed but the Saudi Pro League remain heavily linked to Salah. He would become the new poster boy of the division if he was to make the move, following former Liverpool players like Roberto Firmino, Fabinho and Jordan Henderson in taking the leap.

However, despite Pro League clubs being the main competitors since last summer, they aren’t the only ones interested in signing Salah now he’s entering the final year of his contract at Liverpool. According to reports in Spain, relayed by Football365, the Egyptian winger ‘has been contacted’ by Paris Saint-Germain, along with ‘several’ Saudi Arabia clubs, with ‘all indications’ suggesting that Salah will ‘pack his bags’.

There has been a lot of back and forth over whether fans believe Salah will leave the club this summer. His latest Instagram post suggested that he plans on staying at Anfield for the upcoming season as he has stressed he and the team will ‘do everything possible’ to win more trophies. This hasn’t stopped the speculation, though and it’s still up for debate whether he will be at Anfield once the 2024/25 season commences.

In anticipation of his potential departure, Liverpool continue to scour the market for a ‘reliable replacement’ for the record-breaking winger, whose future remains a grey area. Real Madrid’s Rodrygo has previously been on the club’s radar, both in recent months and before he even joined Los Blancos. Now, according to the Spanish reports, the Brazilian has ‘become the priority target for Liverpool to compensate the loss of Salah’.

Rodrygo has tallied 17 goals and nine assists across all competitions this season, and with the pending arrival of Kylian Mbappé, there has been speculation over whether Madrid could cash in. The new update claims that Liverpool ‘have a very high budget’ heading into this window and ‘are willing to pay €120 million (£102m)’ for Rodrygo.

Such an offer could certainly convince Real Madrid to sell up but as things stand, nothing is confirmed regarding Salah’s future. Other outlets have recently reported that talks are being held over a potential new deal, similar to both Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold. All three players are out of contract in 2025.
