There were wild scenes at the City Ground after Nottingham Forest defeated Liverpool on Saturday afternoon.

Jurgen Klopp’s men returned to losing ways with a shock 1-0 away defeat to newly promoted Forest who, themselves, are in the process of trying to move on from a disappointing start to the season.

Liverpool just didn’t do enough in the East Midlands, struggling to create opportunities against a Forest side, who turned up with a well-crafted plan, courtesy of manager Steve Cooper.

The Reds are now likely to fall further behind their rivals towards the top of the Premier League, already four points off the top four, with four of the teams above them having games in hand at time of writing.

For Klopp’s men, this was yet another big blow, with Liverpool now failing to win seven of their first 11 games, including three defeats.

Meanwhile, for Forest, this was a monmental win following a poor start to the season, and it’s a start that has left Cooper under pressure.

The East Midlands club are now level on points with Villa, who currently occupy the last safe spot, albeit they have played a game more.

With all that aside, this was also a huge win emotionally for Forest, who spend almost two decades outside the Premier League. It’s a huge achievement for a newly promoted side to defeat a rival like Liverpool, especially with the growing financial gap these days. And the win was celebrated like the huge achievement it is.

Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson, who is currently on loan from Old Trafford, jumped into the crowd after the full-time whistle and had to be dragged out by security. Notably, he made a superb save in the dying moments of the game to ensure the win for his side.

Meanwhile, many of his Forest teammates sprinted around the field, enjoying the moment by cheering on fans in the stand, and former Man United star Jesse Lingard was spotted pinning Morgan Gibbs-White to the ground in joy.

Jovial scenes, and the likes Liverpool will be hoping to rediscover sooner rather than later.
