Kevin Campbell has claimed that Liverpool could fund a move for Adama Traore with the sale of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Liverpool had a particularly quiet summer transfer window in comparison to the other Premier League giants, however one name that was heavily linked with a move to Anfield was Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Adama Traore.

Traore remained in West Midlands following transfer deadline day after Wolves placed a £50 million pricetag on his head, however former Arsenal and Everton striker Kevin Campbell believes the Merseyside club will go back in for the Spaniard in January - this time with an offer of their own.

When speaking to Football Insider, Campbell said: “He [Traore] is tailor-made for Liverpool because of the way they play.

“The lads [Sadio] Mane, [Mohamed] Salah and [Diogo] Jota have done such a great job this season. You cannot fault them.

“But, what Traore would bring is an impact off the bench.

“Substitutions are going to be huge at the back end of the season. It is going to make a huge difference in the title race. When you look at Chelsea and Man City they have those impact players on the bench. Liverpool don’t.

“They might have to move and shake in January. Perhaps they let Oxlade-Chamberlain go and then sign Traore. They need an impact player and boy is Traore good at making an impact.”

According to the Mirror, Oxlade-Chamberlain fears he may have to quit Liverpool in order to get more game time ahead of next year’s World Cup.

The midfielder would be reluctant to leave the club he joined in 2017, however is desperate for more minutes on the pitch after only making one Premier League start for the Reds this season.

A return to former club Arsenal could be on the cards as he looks to force his way back into the England picture, with Oxlade-Chamberlain absent from the Three Lions squad since 2019.
