Gary Lineker took to his Twitter page to praise Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool following their 2-0 Champions League victory over Inter Milan.

The Reds, who have now won their last seven games, put one foot in the European competition’s quarter-finals with two second-half goals from Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah.

During the game, the Reds were against the cosh and were forced to be at their best to keep the likes of Edin Dzeko and Lautaro Martinez quiet.

Klopp used his squad depth well and introduced a triple change with Jordan Henderson, Naby Keita and Firmino on the hour mark – a change that was highly praised by Lineker.

On his Twitter, the former England striker said: “Yet another goal for Salah and that’s got to be an unassailable lead for Liverpool. Great changes from Klopp.

“Saw his team were struggling and sorted it.”

Lineker also called Firmino’s opener a ‘huge goal for Liverpool’, the Brazilian’s eighth goal in all competitions this season was an audacious, but smart, front-post header that caught Samir Handanovic.

Elsewhere, talkSPORT pundit Gabby Agbonlahor was full of praise for Ibrahima Konate’s performance in Milan.

He said: “[They] defended well, Van Dijk is looking like the best defender in the world at the moment, Konate is looking better and better every game.”
