No Liverpool or Everton this weekend? Here’s the non-league football clubs to visit during the international break

There are no Premier League games this weekend, but don’t worry, Merseyside is a hotbed for non-league football.

The international break has come at a good moment for Everton as it gives manager Rafa Benitez such much needed time to get injured players off the physio table and back up to speed.

Liverpool could benefit from the break too. The Reds have been leaking goals recently and after their 25-match unbeaten run came to an end following defeat at West Ham United it will provide time for the inquest.

Football supporters, however, still want their weekend fix of football and there is no reason for fans on Merseyside to go without it until the Premier League returns on Saturday, 21 November.

Football fixtures in Merseyside this weekend

While Liverpool Women are away in Durham in the first round of the FA Cup this weekend, their Everton counterparts have a mouthwatering home clash with Manchester United.

The Toffees take on the Red Devils at Walton Hall Park at 12.30 on Sunday, November 14. There’s standing room only remaining at the 2,200+ capacity stadium.

The largest men’s club in the region with a home game this weekend is Football League Two side Tranmere Rovers.

After two cup wins in their last two fixtures, Micky Mellon’s side will be looking to get back on track in the league when they take on Sutton United at Prenton Park at 15:00 on Saturday.

The squad includes former Red Jay Spearing and on-loan Liverpool youngster Paul Glatzel. Victory would see Rovers leapfrog their opponents in the league table. Tickets are available on the club’s website.

Next in the football pyramid comes National League North side Southport, who take on non-league big fish Boston United at Haig Avenue on Saturday (15.00).

The Sandgrounders are unbeaten in the last three home games - taking seven points from nine to climb from 22nd to 17th place and in Marcus Carver have a striker in goalscoring form. Tickets are available on the club’s website.

Fellow Sefton side Marine AFC are two tiers below Southport in the Northern Premier League Division One North West but on Saturday they are in action in the FA Trophy when take on Dunston at the Rossett Park, Crosby (15:00).

Liverpool side Bootle are also in the FA Trophy first round proper on Saturday and will be hoping for giant killing when they host Northern Premier League Premier Division side Stalybridge Celtic at the Delta Taxis Stadium (15.00).
