The richest people in Liverpool and Merseyside have been revealed, including the wealthiest Scouser in history.
Our colleagues at Insider Media have released the latest ‘Rich List’, ranking the North West’s most successful business people based on net worth. The annual list is compiled by Rob Watts, also known for the Sunday Times Rich List.
So, who are the richest people in the Merseyside - and how on earth did they make their fortunes?! The eleven people and families below are the wealthiest in the region, and many came frome humble beginnings...
Family net worth £187m. Prescot-based AHK Group has provided inspection, analysis and other services to the mining industry for more than 140 years. A fifth generation family firm originally known as Alfred H Knight, the business is currently run by brothers David and Richard Knight. 10. Jim Clarke and family
Net worth £154m. Clarke set up Clarke Energy in 1989. The Liverpool-based business installs and maintains clean-energy power generators at hospitals, mines and large commercial premises. The business employs more than 1,200 people and is led by Clarke’s son Jamie. A US power company bought Clarke Energy for £300m in 2017. 11. Ian and Andrew Hall
Net worth £130m. The Hall brothers are the fourth generation to run their family’s food retailing and wholesaling group. James Hall and Company is the main supplier to Spar shops across the North. The Southport-based group also owns the Graham Eyes butchers chain and the Great Northern Seafood Company. Profits climbed to £9.2m on record turnover of £656.7m in 2021-22. Photo: James Hall & Co
