Everton transfer rumours: The former Arsenal midfielder made the admission on Monday Night Football.

There have been infinite amount of transfer ‘what-ifs’ that existed in football over the years and Aaron Ramsey has brought another to the forefront - involving Everton.

Having starred for Arsenal with 369 appearances and three FA Cup triumphs, Ramsey was one of their key performers across a period and is a highly respected individual from his time in the Premier League. Now 33, he finds himself back at Cardiff, his boyhood club but currently out of action due to a hamstring injury.

It was the Welsh club that Ramsey was at when former Everton boss David Moyes reached out to sign the young midfielder. Speaking on Monday Night Football, he confirmed the story. “I went to David Moyes’ house as well. He invited me around there. He was brilliant as well and very accommodating. It was a real moment for me to be in his living room and for him to go through the plans that he would have for me.”

The story isn’t a new one; Moyes revealed the failed deal when he was boss of Manchester United. Both United and Everton had a £5m bid accepted at the time, but he wanted to join Arsenal. "I was very close to signing Aaron," Moyes told reporters in 2013. “I had him and his family in my house but Arsenal beat me to it. He has played really well. He now sees himself as one of their really important players and has not let them down with the goals he has scored."

In the past, Everton had known to be in for the likes of Erling Haaland, Eden Hazard and Victor Boniface all when they were in the early knockings of their professional careers. While he shone for Arsenal, especially in the 2013/14 season, he enjoyed another spell at Juventus in 2019 until 2022 and Nice following that as well as loan spells at Rangers, Nottingham Forest as well as Cardiff. He was also part of the Welsh team that reached the Euro 2016 semi-finals and he has 86 caps for his country.
