Sean Dyche’s side begin with a test against the new-look Brighton led by Fabian Hurzeler, 31, the youngest boss in the Premier League. Goodison Park is also entering it’s final season as the club will move location to the increased capacity Bramley-Moore Dock next year and fans will be hoping for a brilliant send-off this season.

With signings through the door that include the likes of Jesper Lindstrom, Iliman Ndiaye, Tim Iroegbunam, Jake O’Brien and Jack Harrison, while the biggest exit was Amadou Onana. There is more positivity around the club with fresh talent and more depth in the squad and fans will want to see a continuation of the form we saw at the back end of last season when Everton recorded five wins in their last eight games.

Carragher and Neville were asked to give their predictions on the Overlap’s latest episode of ‘Stick to Football’, and while they did predict an Everton win, they engaged in a hilarious conversation before it. “Everton can’t play in the sun, can they?” Exclaimed Neville, as Carragher looked on in a humorous disbelief. “It’s just too hot for Everton!” He continued as the pair laughed together.

They eventually regained their focus and gave a positive prediction for Dyche’s men. “I think Everton win that 1-0,” said Carragher. “New manager at Brighton, Everton win that.” While the other trio of Roy Keane, Ian Wright and Jill Scott predicted a 1-1 draw.

Last season saw Everton pegged back late in both games as they drew one-all against Roberto De Zerbi’s side. Those meetings had followed the incredible five-one victory in the dying stages of the Dyche’s first half-season at the club, which helped spark their relegation escape at the time. In the away fixture, Everton had led through a second-half goal from Jarrad Branthwaite in their last meeting, only to be scuppered by a late Lewis Dunk goal in the 95th minute.

Whereas their meeting at Goodison in November 2023, saw Vitalyi Mykolenko’s early-opener cancelled out by an unfortunate Ashley Young own goal in the final ten minutes, as a deflected cross looped over Jordan Pickford.
