Shearer on defensive worries

Alan Shearer has been speaking about Liverpool’s title chances after their win over Everton. “Yeah (they can win the Premier League), I think they’re always going to score goals with the talent that they’ve got up top,” he told The Rest is Football podcast. “Goals will never be a problem to them but my slight concern would be defensively at the minute.

“I know they’ve had an injury to [Andy] Robertson which they’re going to have to deal with, [Kostas] Tsimikas came in and got taken off. I still think they’re a bit iffy defensively but without doubt they’ve improved and I think they’ll give it a right good go for the title again this year.”

Sutton defends Salah

Chris Sutton has hit back at the Daily Mail’s Dominic King after he claimed Erling Haaland gets more respect from fans than Salah.

“I don’t know who you are mixing with! I think most people I know speak about Mo Salah in glowing terms,” Sutton said on the It’s All Kicking Off podcast. “Just because Erling Haaland has had a better first season, are you mythed by that? Why can’t we be happy for both? And who are you talking to?!”

Salah is already Liverpool’s top scorer this season with eight goals in 11 games, assisting four more.
