Liverpool are said to be considering a move for Wolves star Ruben Neves, and the midfielder has already spoken about his future.

The Reds are in desperate need of help in the midfield, with Jurgen Klopp and the club missing a beat in the summer, deciding not to go after significant signings in midfield. The midfield is not the only reason the Reds have been so poor this season, already falling away from the title race, but it is a significant factor. Liverpool are said to be waiting to sign Jude Bellingham in the summer, but they could add one signing to their midfield this month as they look to avoid a very disappointing campaign.

One player who has been linked recently is Wolves star Neves, who is now in the final 18 months of his contract, attracting interest from a number of top clubs. Reports have claimed Barcelona and Manchester United are interested, but Football Insider now say the Reds could be about to make a move.

Interestingly, Neves spoke about his future in the summer, telling The Times: “I try to focus 100 per cent on my football and I had a good start to the season but we need results now. If you ask me at the end of last season I would have said to you, ‘I will leave,’ but I’m still here, so we never know what’s going to happen.”

Speaking in a separate interview with The Athletic, Neves said: “Everyone knows about what football is about, what our lives are about. Our careers are really short, we need to take the opportunities we have. Of course, all of us have dreams and we need to live those dreams in a short space of time. Let’s see what happens. I cannot say too much about it.”
