'Incredible' midfielder could finally be available for Liverpool - but they face £105m worry from Chelsea
Liverpool transfer rumours: The Real Madrid midfielder was once a key target who got away but he may be available once again.
Reports from Spain have claimed that Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni is running out of support - teasing a potential Liverpool move.
Fans will remember that Tchouameni was one midfielder that got away from them in 2022 as Madrid signed one of the most sought-after and talented players available at the time in that position. Signed for around £70m, he would have been the perfect defensive midfielder to join the club.
Flash forward two-and-a-half-years and the club are enjoying a strong run of form ahead of facing their Spanish rivals next month in the Champions League. Ryan Gravenberch is their defensive midfield lynchpin while Madrid have looked to a combination of Federico Valverde, Eduardo Camavinga and Tchouameni to help fill the hole left by Toni Kroos.
Yet, Tchouameni has struggled to impress despite starting the majority of games. The Spanish journalist duo of Relevo - Matteo Moretto and Jorge Picon - have claimed that he is running out of support at Madrid for his performances - with tensions reaching boiling point after the humbling 4-0 defeat against rivals Barcelona last weekend.
Only 24, the Frenchman has been a key figure for club and country and remains one of the best in his position for his tackling and defensive qualities as well as his physicality and passing range. However, Chelsea could throw a spanner in the works, as they say, due to Carlo Ancelotti’s so-called desire to have Enzo Fernandez.
The two clubs could work a deal where in which the Argentinian is able to join Madrid to sweeten any deal proposed. He would be the ideal Kroos replacement for them while Chelsea would get a perfect midfield partner for Moises Caicedo.
In the past, Tchouameni has been hailed as an ‘incredible’ player, with ex-Manchester United star Rio Ferdinand praising him nearly two years ago. “Listen, Tchouameni is a young kid, he’s going to make mistakes but he’s a superb talent, he produces moments out of nowhere, incredible player," said pundit Rio Ferdinand during the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
