He is the highest scoring African player in the history of the Premier League and has scored a total of 113 goals in 178 appearances.

The 29-year-old finished third for the FIFA Men’s best Player of the year award and is absolutely adored in his country and by Liverpool fans.

But despite all that he has done, former FC Porto striker and now captain of the Senegal team Aboubakar says he is a product of hype and only plays well at club level because he is surrounded by good players.

Cameroon captain  Aboubakar told RFI: “I see him as he was before.

“He’s having a great season in the Premier League, helping his country to advance in this competition (AFCON). I wish him a lot of luck. May the best man win!

“I’m not very impressed with him. I say it clearly because I am an honest person and I have my own way of seeing things. If he impressed me, I would say so. But he doesn’t impress me much.

“He’s a good player, he scores a lot but he doesn’t produce a lot of stuff in the game. Of course, he does good things in the Premier League because he’s been in a team for years.

“He is a good player but not at the level of someone like (Kylian) Mbappe.”

Egypt will take on Cameroon at the Olembe Stadium Stadium for the ticket to reach the final on Sunday, with Salah coming up against Aboubakar.

Salah has been shining light for the Egypt side and has contributed to 75 percent of the goals the Pharaohs have scored in the competition.

Egypt have scored four goals in the competition and Salah has contributed to three of them, scoring two and assisting the other.

Winning the AFCON will give him a great chance of staking a claim for this year’s Ballon d'Or.
