The Austrian side Red Bull Salzburg are likely to soon face a plethora of bids and enquiries in pursuit of the 18-year-old Benjamin Sesko.

A heap of clubs have been reported by the German news outlet SportBILD to have shown interest in the young sensation and it now appears that Jurgen Klopp has added Liverpool to the list.

The Slovenian forward was labelled a ‘dream’ by his current manager Matthias Jaissle and he has quickly become one of the latest sensations with multiple teams around Europe keen to grab their hands on him.

SportBild have said there are several ‘interested clubs’ in pursuit of Seska, naming Bayern Munich, Hertha Berlin, Tottenham, Lazio, and most latterly Liverpool.

There is yet to be any move made by any of the aforementioned clubs, but noise has been made surrounding general interest and that his development is being monitored closely.

Who is Benjamin Sesko?

The young Slovenian began his youth career with Rudar Trbovlje and Radece before moving to Krsko and Domzale in Slovenia.

In 2019, the youngster signed with Red Bull Salzburg and was sent on loan to FC Liefering for whom he scored 21 goals in 30 appearances.

Sesko had the option to play for either Slovenia or Bosnia and Herzegovina but opted for the former and has played in the national team since U15 level.

On 8 October 2021, Sesko scored his first goal for Slovenia in the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualification match against Malta and became Slovenia’s youngest ever goalscorer.

So far this season, the young forward has a tally of seven goals and seven assists in 25 games.

Speaking of his player, Jaissle has said: “I’ve known him since the U18s, He is a very complete striker. You would dream of his assets as a coach: he is fast, tall, technically good.

“He has to bring his potential onto the pitch consistently. But he still has some time; he’s only been with us since summer.”

How likely are Liverpool to sign Sesko?

As SportBILD have yet to report any moves being made by any club, it seems unlikely that Liverpool are fully in the mix.

With such strong strikers currently at Liverpool, it would be highly unlikely Sesko would be given substantial game time and would most plausibly be sent on loan for his first few seasons in order to build up more game time.

With Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane still only 29-years-old, one would imagine they will not be leaving the Reds any time soon but Sesko would be one to watch out for when they do depart Anfield.

Additionally, with such a plentiful selection of clubs apparently seeking out the forward, Liverpool would be fighting a hard battle against the likes of Bayern Munich if they are to seal the deal.

It was also reported in October by SportBild that Real Madrid had been eyeing up the young talent with his market value sitting at £6.6 million at the time.

Bild had mentioned at a similar time that Manchester City were yet another club keeping tabs on the forward.

The summer will most definitely be a time to watch out for the youngster who looks set to become a high point of tension within the transfer market for teams across Europe’s top leagues.
