Soon-to-be out of contract Liverpool star is 'desperate' to pen new deal and the Reds are 'planning' talks
Three of Liverpool’s most important players are approaching the end of their contracts.
Liverpool continued their perfect start to the Premier League season with a satisfying 3-0 win over Manchester United at Old Trafford last weekend. It was a celebration of a significant milestone for Arne Slot, who has made history in his short time at Anfield already.

The Dutchman became the first Reds manager to win an opening game against the Red Devils since Bob Paisley back in November 1975. However, the achievement and the fact Liverpool are the only club yet to concede a single goal this season has taken a back seat following Mohamed Salah’s post-match comments.
The Egyptian, who played a part in all three goals scored against United, admitted in an interview that his future at Liverpool is uncertain. Speaking to Sky Sports, the 32-year-old said: “I had a good summer and had a long time to myself to try to stay positive because as you know it's my last year at the club. I just want to enjoy it and I don't want to think about it. I feel like I'm free to play football and then we'll see what happens next year.
“Coming into the game, I said it could be the last time [I play here with Liverpool]. No one at the club has spoken to me about contracts, so I'm just like, 'OK, I'm playing my last season' and see what happens at the end of the season. So far, we don't know with which club, but so far, yeah, my last game here with Liverpool. It's not up to me but nobody [has talked] to me about a contract with the club. We'll see.”
Salah’s comments sparked a lot of speculation over whether he will be at Anfield beyond this season, with his contract due to expire next June. Losing an influential player like Salah will leave a very difficult hole to fill in the ranks but fans may not need to prepare their farewells just yet.
According to talkSPORT, Liverpool ‘are planning to open talks’ with the winger over a new deal ‘in the near future’. The Liverpool Echo has also provided a promising update, reporting that Salah is actually ‘desperate to extend his stay’ beyond this summer when his deal is due to run out. Even after the lucrative offers put on the table by Saudi Arabia last summer, the Egyptian superstar is now looking to commit even more of his career to Liverpool.
If the Reds do indeed table an offer, these updates suggest that an agreement will be reached and Salah, who still has a lot left in him, will move forward and show his loyalty to Liverpool.
