Liverpool have been linked with a number of forwards this season, and there is a fresh name in the mix.

The Reds moved to strengthen their front line in January, bringing in Luis Diaz, but more additions may be required.

Amid doubts over the long-term future of Mo Salah and Sadio Mane, Liverpool could well sign another forward this summer.

And Fichajes have reported talented Villarreal youngster Yeremy Pino could be an option.

We have already heard plenty about the Yellow Submarine’s Aranaut Danjuma amid links to Anfield, but who is Yeremy?

Here’s what you need to know.

Who is Yeremy Pino?

Yeremi (more commonly stylised as Yeremy) Pino is a 19-year-old winger from the Las Palmas, in the Canary Islands.

He spent a number of his youth years with Las Palmas, who are now in the Segunda Division, but he was snapped up by Villarreal in 2017, at the age of 14.

He graduated to the first team in 2020.

His career so far

Yeremy made his debut in 2020 but he made his big breakthrough last season under Unai Emery.

He became a first-team regular under Emery and went on to start in the Europa League final as Villarreal won their first ever major trophy against Manchester United.

He has taken a slight step back this season, due to increased competition, more than anything, with fellow winger Danjuma arriving on a big-money deal.

Yeremy has still racked up 25 La Liga appearances with 17 starts, also playing in six of Villarreal’s seven Champions League outings.

Thanks, in part to his four goals on Sunday, when he became the youngest player ever to score four goals in La Liga, Yeremy has seven goals and four assists so far this season.

What kind of player is he?

Yeremy is recognised as being one of the biggest young talents in Spain, already making two appearances for Spain first team.

He has reached that stature because of his footballing intelligence.

While he does have pace and plenty of goal threat, as he showed with his four goals against Espanyol last weekend, it’s his intelligence that stands out.

He is trusted by Emery because of his excellent positional sense, able to protect his full-back with excellent positioning.

Yeremy’s positioning is equally as effective at the top end of the field, willing to stay wide to make himself readily available to receive the ball.

The 19-year-old is a very unique winger, and his ability to make up for not having Kylian Mbappe-like speed with his vision of the game is why he is attracting plenty of interest.

Yeremy signed a new contract with Villarreal in 2021 and as part of that, his release clause was raised from £29.1 million to £66.5 million.

The Yellow Submarine are not likely to accept less than that given their solid financial situation.

If Yeremy does want to leave, they are likely to work to allow him to pursue his goals, but they are tough negotiators, and any interested club will likely have to play very close to, or even the full release clause.
