5. Total eclipse of the s*n
Liverpool has boycotted the S*n ever since its slanderous coverage of the Hillsborough Disaster in 1989. As a result, it's pretty common to see advertisements against the paper around the city. | Kevin Walsh, CC BY 2.0 via Wikimedia Commons

6. Pete the busker
Peter Mickle was a true Liverpool icon, busking on Church Street every day in his weird and wonderful outfits. He sadly passed away last year but is remembered with a plaque at his usual spot. | Sharon Carlisle / YouTube

7. The Mersey Tunnels

8. Mathew Street Festival
Mathew Street Festival was once one of the highlights of Liverpool's social calendar, with people showing up in their thousands to watch local bands and tribute acts for free. It first began in 1993, and became a much-loved fixture of the August Bank Holiday weekend but was cancelled in 2013. | Rept0n1x, CC BY-SA 3.0 via Wikimedia Commons
