The Cavern Club is arguably the heart of Liverpool’s music scene, having spanned seven incredible decades of music including The Beatles first performance in 1961 and the Arctic Monkeys breakthrough gig in 2005.

The legendary Liverpool venue initially opened its doors in 1957 as a jazz club, but later developed into the city’s hub for the rock and roll scene of the early 1960s.

From The Rolling Stones to more recent acts such as Adele, the venue has welcomed a multitude of famous faces through its doors over the years.

The main image associated with the club is the iconic stage set up beneath brick arches that greets visitors upon entry. The Cavern Club is open seven days a week from 11am, and offers everything from solo acoustic to Rock ‘n’ Roll and tribute acts.

Here, we reveal how you can enjoy a visit to Liverpool’s most famous club.

How to visit The Cavern Club? 

The Cavern Club is located in the city centre on Matthew Street. It remains a thriving live music destination and is one of Liverpool’s top tourist attractions.

The club comprises of three venues - the Cavern Club, Cavern Live Lounge and the Cavern Pub. Each location showcases not only the legacy of The Beatles, but also new and up and coming bands and established artists.

As well as general admission to The Cavern Club, visitors have the option to book a Magical Mystery tour.

The colourful Magical Mystery Tour bus takes attendees on a two hour tour of “Beatles” Liverpool, featuring all the places associated with the Fab Four and their history as a band.

Whilst on the tour, visitors are entertained by one of the Beatles tour guides as they listen to some of the band’s popular songs.

A Magical Mystery Tour ticket also includes admission to the club.

From the Cavern Club, there are signs pointing towards the Cavern Live Lounge, which is towards the back of the Cavern Club. This stage features established artists and Beatles tribute acts.

The third area of The Cavern Club comes in the form of the Cavern Pub, which has an impressive display of rock memorabilia gracing its walls and has live performances every night.

Those who choose to go to the Cavern Club after a Magical Mystery tour receive a 10% discount on their food bill, when they show their boarding card to a member of staff.

The Cavern Club also has its very own souvenir shop, where guests can pick up merchandise ranging from CDs, books, pin-badges and T-shirts.

There are many photo opportunities located throughout the venue with statues of stars such as John Lennon, who is seen leaning against the wall outside the Cavern Pub and Cilla Black outside the entrance.

How much are entry fees at The Cavern Club?

The Cavern Club offers an All Day and Night pass for £7.50, which gives visitors unlimited access to the live music across the two stages, from opening until closing time.

General admission for adults (18+) is £5, children aged 13 to 17 is £2.50, and younger children aged 0 to 12 free entry.

The Cavern Live Lounge hosts ticketed events with general admission included in the price of the Live Lounge Shows. The Cavern Pub and its performances have free admission.

The Magical Mystery tour is £19.95 for adults (18+), £10.00 for children aged two to 16, and £50.00 for a family ticket with two adults and two children.

The tour ends its journey outside The Cavern Club, where riders can enjoy free entry on the day of their tour.

All tickets can be paid for at the door, apart from The Magical Mystery Tour which should be booked online in advance to avoid disappointment.
