The Reds narrowed the gap at the top of the Premier League to just three points last weekend, after securing a 2-0 win against Brighton & Hove Albion.

Their title rivals, Manchester City, will look to rebuild the distance to six points when they take on Crystal Palace this evening, but it's worth noting that Patrick Vieira's side are one of only two teams to beat the Citizens in the league so far this season.

Here's a look at the latest transfer stories surrounding Liverpool:

Pino on Reds' radar?

Spanish outlet EldesMarque (via the Express) suggest that Liverpool are among a host of Premier League sides to hold an interest in Villarreal sensation Yeremy Pino.

The 19-year-old winger has dazzled in La Liga for his side so far this season, and could be viewed as a long-term successor for Reds ace Mohamed Salah, as questions remain over the Egyptian star's future while his expiring contract situation remains unresolved.

However, should Liverpool opt to move for Pino, they won't be alone in their desire to sign the Spain international, and could face some fierce competition from the likes of Manchester City, Arsenal and Newcastle United, while Real Madrid are also thought to be in the picture.

While the player's current release clause stands at a hefty €80m (£67m), it is likely - according to the Express - that the Reds would look to whittle the fee down to something a little more reasonable.

Pino, who largely plays off the right wing, has scored seven goals and provided four assists so far this season.

Last month, he scored four goals in a 5-1 demolition of Espanyol, which saw his reputation grow even stronger.

Liverpool target suffers injury blow

'Torn anterior cruciate ligament' is a phrase no sportsperson ever wants to hear, it's fair to say.

But that's exactly the misfortune that has befallen Bayer Leverkusen wonderkid Florian Wirtz, who suffered the nightmare injury in a Bundesliga clash against Koln last weekend.

He could be out for as long as nine months, which makes his hopes of securing a big move away from the club this summer now seem unlikely.

The 18-year-old is one of the most exciting talents in German football, and has been heavily linked with the Reds for some time now.

A dynamic attacker blessed with both an exceptional finishing ability and the vision required to set up goals, Wirtz would certainly have no difficulty slotting into Jurgen Klopp's side.

For now, however, the German international will be fully focused on his recovery from injury.
