Historic Liverpool Pancake race returns for 2026 as top chefs compete for crown
Liverpool's traditional Pancake Race, pitting the city's top chefs against each other to celebrate Shrove Tuesday, will return this month.
Held in the gardens of Liverpool Parish Church, the annual race is designed to see how the city's top chefs stack up, with Ma Boyles taking the crown in 2025.
First launched in the early 1980s, and revived in the 2000s, this year’s race will see participants make a pancake in advance and race in two laps of the gardens. The winning chef will be awarded the coveted engraved pancake pan.

Seb Wojton from Ma Boyles was victorious in 2025 after LunyaLita’s chef, Alex Hopkins, retired after a hat-trick of wins.
