Many adorable animals, such as kittens, cats, puppies and dogs, are in need of new loving homes in Liverpool and Merseyside.
While the RSPCA’s Liverpool branch has now closed, dozens of adorable animals are available to adopt in and around Liverpool, through the Wirral and Chester rescue centre (Wallasey) or the Southport, Ormskirk and District centre (Halsall).
A variety of dog breeds and cats of different ages are available, and they would love the chance to find a permanent place to call home as soon as possible and start their happy new lives.
Below are 20 delightful cats and dogs up for adoption in Merseyside. Take a look at the gallery and see if you could provide them with a fresh start. For more information about how to adopt, visit https://www.rspca.org.uk/.

5. Sweet Pea and Djuma
Sweet Pea and Djuma are looking for a place to call home. Sweet Pea is a pure black female with the gentlest nature and is quite fond of a chin tickle. She is unique in that she sports one fang hanging over her bottom lip, which only adds to her beautiful looks and charm. Djuma is black and white and smaller than Sweet Pea. Djuma can be a little more reserved at first, but she soon says hello when Dreamies are around. They are both very affectionate and bubbly. They are both currently at the Wirral & Chester centre. | RSPCA

6. Penguin
Penguin found himself at the centre after being found wondering the streets with a very nasty abscess on the left side of his face. Luckily he was brought to the vets and is now recovered. He is based at the Wirral & Chester centre. | RSPCA

7. Scooby
Scooby is a three-year-old Lurcher cross. He is very friendly but also very bouncy, energetic and strong, so he will need a home to reflect his needs. He will be suitable for an experienced home with owners who have an active lifestyle. He can be rehomed with older teenagers who are used to dogs. He is based at the Wirral & Chester centre. | RSPCA

8. Hank
Hank is a friendly giant who loves being picked up and cuddled. He is looking for his forever home after being outside for a while searching the streets for food, as he was a stray. He is based at the Wirral & Chester centre. | RSPCA
