The only pub in the heart of Hightown is being brought back to life by new owners after closing down earlier this year.

The Hightown Pub & Kitchen in the centre of Merseyside’s ‘poshest’ village, announced its sudden closure on March 8, noting the ‘worsening’ climate of the hospitality industry and cost of living crisis as the cause.

Customers were left ‘gutted’ but, the venue on Lower Alt Lane in Hightown is now set to reopen later this month with a new name, new management and a brand-new look. Taken over by GSG Hospitality - the people behind the likes of NORD, Salt Dog Slims and Manolo - the pub is undergoing an extensive overhaul, in collaboration with Executive Head Chef Daniel Heffy.

The plans were revealed back in June, with a traditional pub set to operate on the ground floor, and the first floor featuring a British restaurant, serving high-quality dishes with local ingredients. Other key features include a tranquil garden space and cocktail bar.

Now, after months of renovation works, ‘The Hightown Inn’ has revealed when it will open to the public, with customers able to get a sneak peek during its soft launch weekend.

From Friday, October 25 to Sunday, October 27, a ‘”limited“ number of guests will be able to visit the pub and try the new restaurant menu, ahead of the official launch on Monday, October 28.

Described by the owners as an “exclusive preview,” early bookings are strongly encouraged to secure a spot at the “intimate” dining experience. Chef Daniel Heffy said the new venue “reflects the heart of the local community,” adding: “We can’t wait to share that with our guests.”
